My Newest Recordings: Days Go By (2009 re-mix)

July 16th, 2009 . by Alexander Fisher

This a re-mix of a song I wrote about getting older. The performance is of me as a three piece hard rock band. I just play one guitar, bass, and drums. I did the electric guitar very quickly. The bass guitar part took two takes. The drums took me a month or more. It is fast, loud, long (6 min. 40 sec.), and you probably won’t understand the lyrics. There is a softer version of this song, but this ain’t it.

The vocals are reverbed, double tracked, auto-tuned, and harmonized. In other words, I poured all the syrup on them I could.

I forget when I recorded this originally. I think it was 2007. But it was written in about 1988. I was sitting in the living room of my house in Ada, Ohio and was looking out the window on a beautiful sunny fall day. I became very self conscious all of a sudden and then became so depressed, I grabbed my guitar and wrote this.

I wrote the song, I sang lead and background vocals, and played all of the instruments. I recorded the song on my Fostex VF-16 digital multi-track and processed it with Cakewalk Sonar 7 Producer and Sony Sound Forge 9.
