The Iraq Experience

May 9th, 2004 . by Alexander Fisher

The Iraqi conflict has created more terrorists than it has eliminated. Now Iraq has become an anti-American focal point that never existed before now. It truly is a danger that will last our whole lifetime now that we have stirred “The Hornets Nest”. Will democracy survive or will religious and political oppression be the chosen way to eliminate terrorism?

Can you eliminate terrorism without dealing with the issues that spawned it? Our political leaders pretend that you can’t give in to terrorists for fear of being seen as soft on terror. I think you have to take the approach of looking at the behavior that caused the terrorism to start with. Is it right or wrong? The response should be to make the right moral decision. If there are people being oppressed, our country should be on the side of the oppressed, rather than those oppressors that are our current financial and religious partners.
