George’s Mistake

February 8th, 2004 . by Alexander Fisher

When all is said and done in the 2004 election, I figure that the chances of George Bush being re-elected are slim to none. The reason that will happen is clear to me. Instead of being the president of the American people, he has become the president of the rich white conservative. He surrounds himself at fund raisers and other events with these types, generally ignoring the rest of the American citizens that he is supposed to be employed to help and lead.

I don’t know if I can hate George Bush personally. I know it seems like I do, but he is so much “them” and not “me”, that if he is a decent man deep down, then that trait is completely lost on me.

I don’t know of many presidents in the past who were truly a man of the people. I would guess that depends on the upbringing of the man himself. John Kerry could be an exception. Born with a silver spoon in his mouth like George Bush, he then served in a dangerous war that would’ve driven most men to the edge, as many men were. I am not sure I can fault a man like George Bush for wanting to avoid Vietnam, but at minimum he should’ve at least attempted to fulfill his National Guard obligation. The fact that he got into the National Guards meant that one other person did not. Did that person die because of George Bush’s family and political connections?

George Bush doesn’t care about me, or anyone under the seven or eight figure yearly income bracket that is populated by his oil buddies and political cronies. He doesn’t care about poor hard working people regardless of their political affiliation. He doesn’t give a hoot about any Democrat because those aren’t his people and mostly did not vote for him. In other words he has no use for over fifty percent of the American population specifically. He is the Great Divider. Thankfully his time is almost up.

Anything that doesn’t kill you will make you stronger. I feel stronger already knowing he is almost through killing America, but having George Bush as president did kill over 500 Americans and over 100,000 Muslims for no useful purpose but to liberate Iraq’s oil.

The end is nigh, but how long until we can recover from this? Hopefully within my lifetime.
